The Journey is turning three! I want to start by expressing my gratitude. Your heartfelt comments, thoughtful reflections, vulnerable shares, and continued support make this newsletter one of the most fulfilling endeavors I’ve ever ventured into.
You’ll notice that The Journey looks a little different today, and that’s because she got a makeover. Revamping the look and feel every year is one of my favorite creative pastimes. I sometimes joke that graphic design could’ve been an alternate career, but then again, it took me several hours to pick out the font and colors, so I wouldn’t get anything done. I shall stick with words.
Also, I was on Notes (Substack’s internal social media network) the other week going on about how we need to protect artist at all cost, but using AI art in all my posts — ouch. So in the future, you’ll find beautiful, curated artworks from real, human artists at the end of each post.
Now, on to todays topics: I’ll share what I’ve been up to, what’s new for The Journey, as well as a few teasers and exciting announcements.
Let’s get into it!
Interested in joining a retreat?
It’s been a longtime dream of mine to curate the perfect in-person experience for you and I’m excited to finally take the steps to make it a reality.
If you’re curious about potentially joining a retreat with me (and curated medicine guides) in the future, please fill out this super brief survey to both enter the waitlist and share your preferences. This is simply to gage interest (nothing firm yet), but I’m eager to dream up something concrete that meets your needs.
Hi to all the new faces! Here are three fun facts about me.
I used to be a consultant, advising large corporate clients on strategy, finance, and operations. Not fun per se, but funny given I now spend my days thinking and talking about feelings, consciousness, and all that yummy divine fluffy stuff.
My writing journey began five years ago. I was a part-time health coach then, writing about the mind-gut connection, sleep hygiene, and morning routines, until an article about my experience with Ayahuasca went viral. That’s when I realized it was time to step out of the psychedelic closet.
Much of my work is informed by my psychedelic journeys, but for the last few years, I’ve actually only had one or two big journeys a year. I’m a firm believer in integration and making life more psychedelic, so that we don’t get stuck chasing peak experiences. That’s what The Journey is all about.
A 30-day challenge to kick off the new year
We’re starting the new year with The Journey’s first 30-day challenge, kicking off on Sunday, January 5!
This challenge is an invitation to travel out of the mind and into the heart so we can venture into the new year with presence and intention. It’s an invitation to step away from certain distractions that systemically disconnect us and step into a way of being that connects us with our most essential, embodied self.
Through daily e-mails throughout January, you’ll receive exercises, prompts, practices, brief reflections and resources straight to your inbox. Each weekend, you’ll receive a longer, recorded practice. This offering consolidates everything I’ve learned over the years on how to become more heart-centered. It is action-oriented and focused on you.
This challenge is for you if:
You feel a little stuck and are eager to reconnect with your most essential self
You want to start the new year with an intentional pause and journey inward
You know you have all the answers within but struggle to access them
You’re keen to turn concepts into action and experience the nature of your heart
You’ve been on the path of the heart and could use a few reminders
This challenge will be exclusive to paid subscribers. You can join today via early-bird pricing by getting 40% off an annual subscription (totaling $30, price will go up to $35 by Christmas). I’ve poured a ton of love and time into this offering and feel confident that the value far outweighs its price, but my goal is to make it as accessible as possible so money is not a barrier for anyone who wants to join.
If you are resource-constrained and cannot contribute this amount, you also have the option to get a monthly subscription for $5, if you wish. I’m grateful for whatever support you’re able to provide ♡.
STAY TOONED for an exciting update 👀
A few months ago, I shared that journeying with music has become my main inward practice, along with a sample of music from my partner Sam, a gifted composer. So many of you loved the music, asked for more, and shared that you were either already using music for your inward practice, or eager to do so more. I’ve never had more reactions to anything I posted on here, so we took this as a sign.
We’ve been working hard to figure out how to make more of Sam’s magical music available to you in a format that encourages deep listening, and are SO excited to share that we’ve dreamed something that has the potential to transform your inward practice, all through the power of music. More (very) soon!
Private sessions
I’ve been supporting individuals in private sessions for several years now with psychedelic consultation, preparation and integration, somatic therapy, and coaching. Embodied processing, the somatic modality I work with, is a powerful root cause approach that works with the energetics of trauma (similar to how psychedelics do, but in a gentler way), helping to make the unconscious conscious and release trapped emotions. It can work wonders if you feel stuck despite hours of self-help and traditional therapy and helps cultivate a deeper connection with your body. (It’s also a great tool for psychedelic integration.)
If you’re interested in working together, I’ve created a page here to summarize my offerings. I have a few open slots left for the rest of this year and will soon open the calendar for January. Feel free to respond directly to this e-mail if you have any questions about private inner work.
10 articles you loved this year
That’s all! Thanks again for joining me on this journey.
I really love the commitment to feature artists instead of ai. That’s awesome!
