Very interesting. I am in my late 30's myself treading water with my old career of choice and recently mused the thought that working in the psychedelic space would be something which would feel meaningful for me. I just don't know which options I have as I live in another country with a "zero vision" on drug use and unfortunately ended up broke over years of decline of motivation. I'd love to reeducate myself and squeeze out some work toward my pension.
It's never too late! Where are you located? I also imagine that there are, while more challenging, also lots of benefits to coming into the topic in its beginning stages. You can have much more impact.
I am located in Sweden. I've had thoughts about relocating but then there also feels like it would be nice being part of a movement to de-stigmatize psychedelics in my own area. It's a bag of mixed feelings. I don't know exactly what I would see myself doing. The latest flash idea I had was to become a writer/reporter on the union space of psychedelics, spirituality (broad/vague term) and history.
