Erudite, Lucid and always engaging. I wait in anticipation for each new Article. A Huge Fan. Mark Scott. 🤗🙏
Mark, thanks so much for the incredibly kind and encouraging words. So glad you're enjoying The Journey. Let me know if there are any topics you're especially curious about!
I'm going to try and keep this nice and short as I am neither a writer with a wonderful command of the Queens English like yourself, nor do I have extensive knowledge of the use of Powerful Psychedelic Plant Medicine for Healing Purposes in Ritualistic Shaman Ceremonies, nor through organised Psychedelic Healing Centres.
What I would like a little further information on, and I'm sure would also be of interest to many of your other Readers particularly from outwith the US, is your Opinion of the use of Psycedelics for Healing when experienced at an organised Set and Setting Ceremony or at a Psychedelic Healing Centre as against Experimental Home Use for Healing Purposes but under a more Recreational type setting.
I know you have addressed some of this previously Jules under your Posts, "Getting involved with the Psychedelic Ecosystem" and "Recreational Use of Psychedelics" however I live thousands of miles from the US, (The UK) and although the UK and much of Europe has embraced Psycedelic Research, that really is as far as it has evolved. There are no UK operated Pschedelic Treatment Centres experimenting with the use of MDMA or Ketamine for Healing Purposes, nor are there UK or European Retreats readily advertised and available to experience the heavier and more traditional Plant Psychedelics like Ibogaine, Yopo and Ayahuasca for their sacred Healing & Hallucinogenic Powers.
So like myself, I think many People in the UK and the wider Europe have been left to their own devices and have maybe been lucky enough to fall, or be guided down a Psychedelic Path as an aid to Physical or Emotional Healing or to help some deeper less well understood Spiritual Malaise. I appreciate to enter that space in the first instance for most of us has required some element of awakening, whether through birth, genetics, Yogic Taoist or perhaps Meditational Awakenings, or like in my case a lesson to really listen, acknowledge and act accordingly as opposed to still thinking my "head mind" knew better than my "heart mind" and therefore not acting on my gut intuition.
Unlike you Jules I've therefore not had the benefit of organised Psychedelic Ceremonies as such, and although I'm from and older generation than yourself (wrong side of 50) and have been experimenting with Psychedelics for over 25 years for Healing and Awakening Purposes although carried out in a Recreational type setting and I've never had the experience to gauge the difference that the Ceremony itself and the organised Guide makes to the overall experience of the individual, although I can imagine for many, particularly those that are apprehensive and closed that the difference will be immense.
Also because of Legalities and Availability in the UK I've never had the chance to experience some of the heavier traditional Plant Psychedelic Medicine like Ibogaine, Yopa and Ayahuasca with most of my experiences having been via LSD (Ergot), MDMA, Ketamine, Psilocybin, Pyote and San Pedro. Though I have also tried Datura, Mandrake & Nightshade on a couple of occasions however without any perceived Physical, Emotional or Spiritual benefits, but they did certainly leave a debilitating sickness for a good couple of days.
I am therefore very interested as to your views on the above Jules and I'm sure that many of your Readers would likewise benefit from this advice immensely.
Looking forward to your reply or possibly a future Posting addressing the above.
I appreciate your comment, thank you, Mark! I agree with you, I imagine there are many other readers wondering the same. This week's article will actually be on trip sitting, which touches on the at home use, but I love the idea of writing something more specifically about how to seek out the right setting based on your needs (and geography!). I'll put it on the list - stay tuned :-)
Hi Jules. Look forward to that along with your other, always engaging output. Interestingly within seconds of posting my earlier reply to you I recieved the most recent, "Exstatic Integration" Substack in to my Inbox, "Integration", addressing in a small part certainly, some of the queries I had hoped you may touch upon in any future reply. synchronicity Indeed! Mark
I don't know that I'd say I'm living my dharma - for some reason, it still doesn't feel like it yet. Rather, it feels like there is more to uncover, more to align to - it's a journey :-) PS. I love design as well - how are you practicing it?

My art form is design. Writing is agonizing for me. Well said, you are living your dharma!
