Wow Julia!! This was some eye opening stuff just when I need it. I have been on all kinds of psychological meds, most recently 5 different one at the same time. Also, talk therapy twice a month. My mental issues seemed to coincide with getting Lupus, but there is some trauma as a child.

The last year has been a complete downward spiral for me. I haven't left my apartment in at least 3 months, and I have no desire to be out and around people. I used to be a pretty outgoing Gemini and social butterfly. Not anymore. I think all of these meds have really messed with my brain. I'm a total disaster at the moment!

You're writing is amazing and I think you got it right about the state of Psychiatry.

Very eye opening. My husband has been prescribed almost every antidepressant and anti-anxiety drug there is - to no avail. He has some very serious childhood trauma which he's done some work with a trauma therapist and while it seemed to be doing some good it was beyond painfully slow. I did manage to get him off all of them so that he could have a MDMA/ Psilocybin journey guided by a psychologist but if was quite horrific for him. He was so blocked and fought the medicine for hours. He did walk away with a message and that was to forgive and let go of the anger. Unfortunately due to the experience he did not try it again.

He is now on a new drug Trintellix - which is not a SSRI but in the family. Trintellix doesn't just affect serotonin. It can affect noradrenaline, dopamine, acetylcholine and histamine. What has been your experience doing psychedelics while being on an antidepressant? Our psychologist doesn't like the idea of doing a macro dose while on a SSRI but he hasn't said anything about this drug.

In your experience can one who has chronic depression and anxiety and is on medication do a macro dose without having to come off the drugs? Withdrawal of these horrific drugs is terrifying and lasts forever. I just wouldn't want to put him through that again.

I understand you are not a doctor - I just would love to hear your take on this. Thank you for all your posts. You are an amazing writer and frankly share a wealth of fantastic information.
